On Tuesdays, I’m going to start participating in the Top Ten list along with other book bloggers. This fun, weekly event is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.
This week’s theme is bookish facts about yourself. So here are mine:
- When I’m reading, I always turn down the corners of pages and underline my favorite parts. This is why e-reading has been a difficult adjustment for me.
- The first series I remember enjoying is Anne of Green Gables.
- The first time I heard Ulysses being read out loud I hated it; then I ended up doing a Master’s Thesis on it.
- It took me 9 years to get my Master’s degree in English Literature (I was working full time most of this time and having kids.)
- My dad was an English Teacher. I still have many of his “classroom copies” in my bookcases.
- I’ve visited three of Hemingway’s drinking spots in Cuba!
- I’ve been to Hemingway’s House in Key West.
- The book I’m most eagerly anticipating for the fall is Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography, Born to Run. Please please please can I get approved for an advanced reading copy of this!!!
- Thanks to my husband’s grandma, I have the whole Louis L’amour collection in my library and still haven’t read one of them (embarrassing). On my short list now that I’ve admitted this!!!
- I had custom bookcases built to hold all my books and my record collection.

Custom built bookshelves?! THAT IS AWESOME. 😀 That is goals hahahha. XD I have so run out of shelf space, omg, it’s like a balancing act in my room to pile them on top of my bookshelves. And I admire you for being able to write in your books! I can’t do that…eeep. I love my books to be pristine, heheh.

Those are beautiful bookcases! Sigh, one day when I own a home I’ll try and put something similar in. I can see how studying English Lit would make you a fan of annotating as you read along. I’ll found the Kindle to be fairly good for this. Not as good for making notes, but does well for highlighting and bookmarking pages.
Thanks Liselle! I was trying to figure out if there is a way to make notes at all in the Kindle app?? I just started using it for ARCs and have not used it much before that at all.
Wait but ereaders are even better for keeping your page and saving quotes of text! That’s one of the things I love about them lol. I’m a quote fiend, so I highlight like a million things in every book, and then it’s really easy to find them all on my kindle or online when I need them 🙂 And you can also bookmark different pages if you want to mark whole pages.
And that’s awesome that you have custom bookcases! I don’t even have real bookcases, just a shelving unit that has books in one section lol.
TTTs are fun though, right? I don’t participate anymore because the topics weren’t working for me, but I still like seeing other people’s sometimes, and it’s cool getting to know bookish facts about people!
