Below are the books I plan to read this spring. Hopefully you will see something that interests you and will read along with me!
As usual, I will update this post with links as I read through it (no spoilers ever – but if I like the book I will tell you why).
(Publishers notes are in block quotes, and you can click on title or image to find on Amazon.)
American Princess: A Novel of First Daughter Alice Roosevelt by Stephanie Marie Thornton
As bold as her signature color Alice Blue, the gum-chewing, cigarette-smoking, poker-playing First Daughter discovers that the only way for a woman to stand out in Washington is to make waves–oceans of them.
Thanks to NetGalley, I had early access to this book and already posted my thoughts on it.
When We Left Cuba by Chanel Cleeton
In 1960s Florida, a young Cuban exile will risk her life–and heart–to take back her country in this exhilarating historical novel.
This is a follow up novel to one of my favorites from a couple of years ago, Next Year in Havana by the same author.
UPDATE: My thoughts on this new book.
The Only Woman in the Room by Marie Benedict
A powerful novel based on the incredible true story of the glamour icon and scientist whose groundbreaking invention revolutionized modern communication.
Another book by an author I’ve enjoyed before when she wrote about The Other Einstein.
Inheritance: A Memoir of Genealogy, Paternity, and Love by Dani Shapiro
In the spring of 2016, through a genealogy website to which she had whimsically submitted her DNA for analysis, Dani Shapiro received the stunning news that her father was not her biological father. She woke up one morning and her entire history–the life she had lived–crumbled beneath her.
This book captivated me; I wrote here how I read it in one day!!
A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab and soon you’ll be matched with your perfect partner—the one you’re genetically made for.
Yikes!!!
UPDATE: I read this book very quickly.
The Red Address Book by Sofia Lundberg
The global fiction sensation–publishing in 28 countries around the world–that follows 96-year-old Doris, who writes down the memories of her eventful life as she pages through her decades-old address book. But the most profound moment of her life is still to come…
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetime—maybe even love—in this romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling authors of Roomies.
Lost Roses: A Novel by Martha Hall Kelley
The million-copy bestseller Lilac Girls introduced the real-life heroine Caroline Ferriday. Now Lost Roses, set a generation earlier and also inspired by true events, features Caroline’s mother, Eliza, and follows three equally indomitable women from St. Petersburg to Paris under the shadow of World War I.
Thanks to NetGalley, I just read this. My post is here.
American Duchess: A Novel of Consuelo Vanderbilt by Karen Harper
Before there was Meghan Markle, there was Consuelo Vanderbilt, the original American Duchess. Perfect for readers of Jennifer Robson and lovers of Downton Abbey.
This reads like a sequel to a book I loved on my fall list. And the next book below overlaps as well, yet all by different authors.
UPDATE here is my post on this book.
That Churchill Woman: A Novelby Stephane Barron
The Paris Wife meets PBS’s Victoria in this enthralling novel of the life and loves of one of history’s most remarkable women: Winston Churchill’s scandalous American mother, Jennie Jerome.
Update: I finished this one as well!
Well that should keep me busy for awhile, and I always find other books to read “off my list” many which end up being my favorites. Tell me what you’ll be reading this spring!

I need to read all of these. So many good titles! And I’m actually reading my ARC of The Unhoneymooners tomorrow!
Thanks Jessica! I will look for your upcoming post on Unhoneymooners!
I’ve been waiting for your spring list! I am currently reading Ordinary Grace; however, once I’m finished, i want to break from tradition of reading mostly historical fiction and check out The One. It sound intriguing.
I agree – that “one” is off my usual genre too but was intrigued! Checking out “Ordinary Grace” now!! Thanks for appreciating my list 🙂
Great recommendations! The One looks intriguing as does Inheritance. I have had When we Left Havana on my TBR list for awhile. Maybe it’s time to push that to the top of the list. Glad you read Where the Crawdads Sing. That was one of my favorites last year!
Thanks, Wendy!!
