I need to get caught up on my posts/recommendations so I’m sharing two books I enjoyed recently. Both books fall into my favorite historical fiction genre (mostly WWII), and both have an often-used plot of granddaughters chasing grandmother’s secrets across Europe. It has become obvious and funny to me how many variations of this plot keep coming up, and I keep reading (and enjoying) them! Oh well! Happy reading!
I found this book on the Libby app one night when I couldn’t sleep. I guess the app already knows what I will like…
Three Words for Goodbye: A Novel
This Grandma is still alive and she is sending her grandaughters to deliver three letters in Europe right before WWII. Themes of family and travel; I loved this book! By the same authors of a book I previously recommneded Meet Me in Monaco.
Next, I read
The Paris Apartment
This story is insprired by a real Paris apartment that was found unused since WWII with valuable artwork hidden inside. In this book, the apartment is willed to the grandaughter who discovers a treasure trove or art along with other mysteries from the past.
Either book is great for relaxing at home during a cold winter weekend!
