Happy summer, readers!

I want to recommend several books I’ve enjoyed recently and tell you what’s still on my summer reading list!

New Recommendations!

Five books I’ve read in the past couple of months that are worth recommending:

The Women of Chateau Lafayette by Stephanie Dray

Historical fiction from three perspectives in three different time periods (American & French Revolutions, WWI, WWII) all are centered around “America’s favorite fighting Frenchman” (quote from Hamilton) Lafayette and his legacy! Kind of long, but a good long. Perfect for reading on a trip!

The Saints of Swallow Hill by Donna Everhart

This novel is set in “tar heel” country (turpentine farms) during the depression. Cruelty, redemption, love. A good story!

Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel

I have loved this author’s other books so I didn’t even care that this one is about time travel (I bought it without even knowing that!). Would you be able to keep yourself from helping someone if it would disrupt the timeline of the universe?

But first, read The Glass Hotel.

Greenwich Park by Katherine Faulkner

This is for those who love domestic thrillers. Several F-ed up people, many of them pregnant, set in London.

The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller

This is a complicated family drama (affairs, abuse, etc. so may not be for everyone!) that takes place over 24 hours with flashbacks, set on Cape Cod. Page turner! Set to be an HBO mini-series!

On my reading list for summer!

Here are some of the books I am looking forward to:

Bluebird: A Novel by Genevieve Graham

“A dazzling novel set during the Great War and postwar Prohibition about a young nurse, a soldier, and a family secret that binds them together for generations to come.”

The Codebreakers Secret: A WWII Novel by Sarah Ackerman

A brilliant female codebreaker. An “unbreakable” Japanese naval code. A pilot on a top-secret mission that could change the course of WWII. The Codebreaker’s Secret is a dazzling story of love and intrigue set during America’s darkest hour.

The Last to Vanish by Megan Miranda

“New York Times bestselling author Megan Miranda returns with a gripping and propulsive thriller that opens with the disappearance of a journalist who is investigating a string of vanishings in the resort town of Cutter’s Pass—will its dark secrets finally be revealed?”

Memphis by Tara Stringfellow

“NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A spellbinding debut novel tracing three generations of a Southern Black family and one daughter’s discovery that she has the power to change her family’s legacy.”
