I was helping my 10-year-old clean out his room yesterday – I mean really clean it…it took us more than 2 hours and resulted in a full bag of trash, a pile of recycling, and several other piles to be relocated to other areas of the house. We even went through the closet and under the bed, Ick!!

And in the closet I found the tattered covers of a book I want to recommend.

A couple of years ago I wrote My Favorite Children’s Books Part I about my absolute favorite series of children’s books. I’ve been so focused on my own reading that I forgot to finish this series of posts, but I was inspired to do so yesterday.

Because what I found was obviously another favorite considering the state of this book…I have no idea where the pages went! It literally fell apart due to lots of reading over two kids!

The book is:

A Treasury of Curious George

Oh Curious George…he makes so much trouble but it always works out for him somehow. This is a great collection with him going on a train, getting lost in the Big City (omg I still remember this one well), camping, and visiting the library.

You’ll notice the cover in the picture above (click on title or book to purchase on Amazon) is a bit different than the one I found in the closet. Apparently our 2014 edition is now going for $90+ on Amazon. Too bad our copy no longer has pages!! But you know what, I wouldn’t sell it anyway. I have shelves full of books I read to my kids that I can’t give away. I can’t even throw away this cover that has no pages!!

Another Curious George collection we own and loved is:

Curious George Stories to Share

One of these stories is about going to a baseball game…whew, I feel sorry for the man with the yellow hat that day (and all days)!

Either of these would be a great baby gift or good for a younger child who is building a library.

I plan to share a few other favorite children’s books in the next couple of months as we transition these much-loved books to other spaces in our house and make room for books like this.
